I have had the pleasure of experiencing both the North Star and the Ripcord by iFly this morning and well there is only one word Wow ! Before I joined Quantum of the Seas I did not have the North Star on my priority list but after experiencing it this is a must for all guests (who don’t suffer from Vertigo). The view of the ship from North Star are amazing and the ultimate selfie can be taken. The view you have is only comparable with a helicopter view. The Ripcord by iFly is a very professional experience with full instruction given and friendly expert skydive instructors. You spend approximately 1 minute on the skydiving experience and with winds over 140 mph, if you purchased the two experiences on land you wouldn’t have much change from £100, this is one of the reasons Quantum and Anthem is worth the additional premium.
One of Quantum of the Seas signature features is the Two70 lounge and the show Starwater. The Two70 lounge is at the aft of the ship where by day you can gaze out at the ocean and by night the glass changes into a 12k giant screen with robotic screens. Royal Caribbean promised a lot with Starwater and I am delighted to say they have delivered, I have never seen a show with so much passion from the acts combined with cutting edge technology, my advice to any guest is to take a seat upstairs front row with a favourite drink and watch this amazing show that can only be seen on Quantum of the Seas.
Walking into to Music Hall was the biggest wow of the day for me, Royal Caribbean have decided to use two floors to create a live music venue with a real groove, pool tables plenty of seats and a bar on both floors, this really is the place to enjoy music live and loud as it should be. This is like chalk and cheese to the bionic bar a concept where a bionic arm actually mixes your cocktails.
One of the new concepts on board Quantum of the Seas is Michael’s Genuine Pub. This is the place to try a craft beer including Michael’s Genuine Pubs very own Home Brew, this is combined with gourmet snacks and I’ve just tried a sample of the peanut butter pie which was a very well balanced mix of sweet and savoury. Quantum of the Seas does not have a Royal Promenade but instead the Royal Esplanade which in my opinion flows a lot better and with a large choice of dining and entertainment venues in this area every guest will be able to find a favourite spot to enjoy. Below I have a few pictures of Michaels Genuine Pub plus the menu as this is one of the additional charge dining options.
I feel like a big kid again, just been on the Dodgems in the amazing SeaPlex area which also converts to a roller disco and a basketball court. In the same area is the Sea Plex Dog House where I have just had the most amazing smoke house hot dog on cheese bread – wow, my children would love this, who am I kidding they would have to drag me out of here.
